Users, as long as they have the appropriate permissions, will be able to search for archive information packets archived in the repository using any descriptive metadata, whether at the level of a composite document unit as simple.

Limitation: There is no search engine for file content.

The platform includes two types of search:

  • Basic search. This mode allows you to search for PIA from any of the following values that correspond to the basic identifying metadata of the PIA that is being searched:
    • Name of the documentary series
    • Date of opening the file or date of creation of the document
    • Closing date of the file
    • Date of entry of the PIA
    • Title / file number / identifier iArchive

  • Advanced search. This mode allows you to search for PIA from any metadata that is part of the metadata vocabularies that have been used to describe the PIA

Search criteria

Free text field searches are case sensitive and will allow searching by text substrings.

The following limitations must be considered:

  • Different vocabularies cannot be used in the same search.
  • Yes, it allows you to use more than one metadata, but it must be from the same vocabulary
  • Search results are limited to 1000 PIA. If you exceed this limit when searching, the platform will report that there are more PIAs that meet this search criteria.

Search Results

Both basic and advanced search will present users with a list of results that meet the search criteria entered, and will show you the following information about each PIA:

  • Date of entry of the PIA
  • PIA iArchive identifier
  • Title of the documentary series to which it belongs
  • Date of opening of the file
  • Closing date of the file
  • PIA title
  • File number

Clicking on the identifier of one of the packages in the search results list provides direct access to the PIA content.

The user can also download the search result in an Excel file that includes the basic data of the PIAs.
