Users, as long as they have the appropriate permissions, will be able to search the archive information packages archived in the repository using any descriptive metadata, either at the composite or simple document unit level.

Limitation: There is no file content searcher.

The platform includes two types of search:

  • Basic Search This modality allows you to search for PIA based on any of the following values that correspond to the basic identifying metadata of the PIA being searched for:
    • Name of the documentary series
    • File opening date or document creation date
    • File closing date
    • PIA entry date
    • Title/file number/identifier iArxiu

Search criteria

Free text field searches are case insensitive and will allow searching by substrings of text.

The following limitations must be taken into account:

  • Different vocabularies cannot be used in the same search.
  • Yes, you can use more than one metadata, but it must be from the same vocabulary
  • Search results are limited to 1000 PIAs. If this limit is exceeded when doing a search, the platform will report that there are more PIAs that meet this search criteria

Search Results

Both Basic and Advanced Search will present users with a list of results that meet the search criteria entered and show the following information about each PIA:

  • PIA entry date
  • Identifier iArxiu of the PIA
  • Title of the documentary series to which it belongs
  • File opening date
  • File closing date
  • Title of the PIA
  • File number

By clicking on the ID of one of the packages in the list of search results you can directly access the contents of the PIA.

The user can also download the search result in an Excel file that includes the basic data of the PIAs.
